Self Defense Size Does Not Matter

You may think you are too small to defend yourself against a large attacker. Think of it - a 200 pound man attacking a 110 pound woman. He stands over six feet tall. You stand just over five feet tall. Obviously, you think you can't defend yourself. You are wrong! This woman can easily take on this large man and get away from him!

That is the most important thing to remember when it comes to self-defense, the object is to get away. Because this is the object, you can protect yourself against anyone, no matter how big they are. Size does not matter.

First you need to know some basic self defense moves. Again, the object is to get away, so, your first instinct should be to run. You may not be able to outrun your attacker, but you can make him chase you. Run towards a crowd. Run towards a lighted area. Run towards a place where
you will not be boxed in.

If the attacker catches you, and is not deterred by the location that you made him chase you to, you now need to put your moves into action. Don't bother hitting his body as you probably won't hurt him much. Instead, hold your fingers straight, and scrunch them up together as tightly as you can, so that all of the tips of the fingers come close together. Now, with all of your strength, jab at his throat - the soft spot just above the collarbone is where you want to hit him.

Next, again, with all of your strength, and your fingers positioned the same way, jab his eyes. You have now taken away his sight and breath. Then, you want to "disable" him as best as you can. You can knee him in the groin which he may be expecting or kick him with your foot, squarely in the kneecap. This is something he may not expect. This is best done if he is behind you. Also hit his knee with the sole of your foot hard!

There are other moves that you can learn in a basic self defense class. Again, the objective is to get away!
